Vintage Giraffe is a fun and bright take on a classic animal print hat to wear in protest of the dreary gray days of mid-winter. The sample is knit with increased tension to create the rippled texture, but you can also knit it to be smooth and untextured.
The chart and directions allow for up to 2.5 inches of additional height on the hat, to make it in a slouched style if desired.
Madelinetosh Vintage, in Cousteau and Oceana were used to create the vibrant pattern, in 85 yards and 65 yards, respectively.
Giraffe is worn here with about 3” of positive ease and a large gauge using size 8 needles, but you can use smaller needles for a tighter look and a smaller hat.
