Vintage Sampler Cape
This sampler cape uses a variety of stitches and showcases an open rib stitch, bobble stitch, three different cable stitches and twisted stitches. The cape is reminiscent of a poncho and has a reducing yoke in cables finishing with a loosely fitted polo neck. Knitted in Aran weight, this garment is warm and snug for frosty mornings and cooler evenings. I have used Debbie Bliss organic Falkland Aran which creates a soft and snuggly feel with a good amount of elasticity; but any natural Aran weight yarn can be used.
Available in four sizes from 32inches to 44 inches on the bust, the negative easing on this garment helps give a vintage fit. Do be aware that sizing down is usually an option to give a close fit without being too tight - for example the size knitted in the photo is for the first size (32 inches bust), however, the finished garment measures 40 inches on the bust, so provides ample room for movement and wear.
This stole works well with the Vintage Sampler Beret available for free on my knit1purr1 design page.
Tension given in the pattern is for 10cm worked over the cable pattern. Please check your tension before beginning, and increase or decrease needle size accordingly.
This pattern provides both the written pattern and chart with your purchase.
