This hat is an easy way to dip your toe into the world of color work. I designed this hat as an exercise in maintaining consistent tension with two yarns and so I could practice holding both colors in one hand. What will this pattern help you learn?

I realize that using a needle four sizes smaller for the ribbing is a little unorthodox, but I really wanted some nice stretchy ribbing and this is what worked for me. The gauge for the ribbing, very gently stretched, is 4 sts x 7 rows.

Yardage is approximately 105-110 yards for the main color, 30 yards for the contrast color. I think.
