Violet's Dragon
A lightweight cardigan for a baby or toddler, with a fire-breathing dragon around the hem.
The dragon is worked in double knitting, which means the inside of the band is just as attractive as the outside. If you prefer, it is possible to work them in stranded knitting instead, with the same pattern, but there will be long floats of non-working yarn, so you will need to weave your floats in every few stitches, and you may wish to work a plain folded hem to cover the floats, and prevent the edge from curling.
Sizes: 0-3 months (6-12 months, 12-24 months, 2-3 years)
Yarn: superwash sock yarn 128 (170, 217, 269) metres MC (red in the sample); 67 (77, 87, 97) metres CC1 (purple); 137 (176, 218, 266) metres CC2 (green), plus scraps of yellow/red yarn to embroider flames and eyes.
The pattern includes approximate yarn requirements for each section to allow you to adapt your colour choices according to the available yarn (this is a great pattern to use up ends of sock yarn!)
The brother pattern, Dylan’s Elephants, is also available.
