Violetta is a rag doll who has spent many years patching herself up. With her gentle spirit and quiet determination, Violetta now dedicates her time to mending all the broken souls she finds, sending them on their way with renewed hope for the future.

Materials
o DK yarn or cotton: skin colour, dress colour, and hair colour of your choice. This pattern will use less than 50g of each colour.
o Hook size: I have used a 3.5mm hook. My finished doll measures 17 inches in length. You can use whatever yarn and hook size you prefer.
o Buttons: optional, I have used two on the dress and two on the eyes. You might like to use safety eyes instead (plastic eyes used in toy making, with a washer on the back – these are widely available to buy online in a range of colours and sizes).
o Stuffing: you will need a small amount of toy stuffing for the body and head.
o Difficulty: beginner/intermediate: most of the doll is worked in HDC (half double crochet), or in UK terms, HTC (half treble crochet). Some sewing is involved. Full instructions and photographs are provided throughout the pattern.

The doll is made in sections and then sewn together. You can use whatever colours you prefer, in acrylic yarn or cotton – I have used:
o aqua Fairytale DK acrylic yarn for the dress;
o cream Drops Muskat Cotton for the arms and legs;
o two strands of cream Scheepjes Cotton 8 for the head;
o two shades of purple 4 ply yarn for the hair;
o scrap DK yarn for the pocket;
o grey Rowan Handknit Cotton for the eyes and mouth;
o black lace cotton for the scars on her arms and legs.

NOTE: If you are planning on selling your doll, please make sure it conforms to toy safety regulations. This might affect the length of the hair, and how it is attached. You will also need to make sure that all the materials you use are safe and you may need to keep certificates to prove this. Safety of a toy is the responsibility of the maker; please do your own research before making or selling any toys.
