#VirgíliaKnitDesign: a design that, although new to my portfolio, has been in my grandmother Virgília’s drawer for a long time. I’ve adapted her unique creation to modern techniques and I hope you like knitting and wearing it as much as I liked working on it!

It has a bottom-up construction with raglan decreases and seams only on the underarms.

The original cardigan is the one my grandmother is wearing and the one I’m wearing is the adapted version on size S-M.

GAUGE
With 1 strand of Virgílio and 1 strand of Silk Mohair, with 4,5mm needles in 10x10 com (4inch):
21sts x 25rows in pattern after blocking;
21sts x 28 rows in stockinette st before blocking;
17sts x 25 rows in stockinette st after blocking.

YARN
Approximately 2, (2), 3, (3), skeins of Virgílio yarn from Roll Up The Sheep 100g- 450m fingering 100% Portuguese wool

Approximately 4, (5), 7, (8), skeins of Isager Silk Mohair 25g - 212m fingering 25% silk 75% mohair

(aproximately 750m, (1050m), 1300, (1600) m of each yarn)

Colors used on the prototype:
Mesclado Natural from Roll Up the Sheep Virgílio + 7S from Isager Silk Mohair

You can use any similar yarn to match the gauge.

NEEDLES & OTHER
A pair of 4.5 mm (US 7) needles with 60–120 cm, 24-48 inch cables; 10 stitch markers; extra cables or waste yarn to hold sts; a tapestry needle to weave in the ends and 5 (5) 6 (6) buttons.

SIZE GUIDE
XXS-XS (S-M) L-XL (XXL-XXXL) to fit 75-85 (85-95) 95-110 (110-125) cm, 30-31 (31-38) 38-44 (44-50) inches bust circumference. The piece is designed to have between 18 and 23 cm, 7 and 9 inches of positive ease.

To choose your size, measure your bust circumference and match your real measures to the size intervals presented. Your finished piece measurements will be between 10 and 23 cm larger than your bust circumference. If you want your garment to be more fitted or even more loose choose one size smaller or larger accordingly.
