Virgin Mary Ornament
You can make this virgin Mary decoration for your tree, wreath, home decor or just as a teaching tool for young children. (There are no breakable parts for young hands to break). Mary was an excellent example of how God can use each of us if we are willing.
She would look wonderful on a wall display for people who are out of shelf space.
This pattern is made using U.S. crochet abbreviations and would be good for an intermediate crocheter.
She has a gathered looking royal blue dress which is trimmed in golden yellow. Her gathered looking white headress is also trimmed in golden yellow. She has a gold halo on top of her headress.
Materials: bedspread weight cotton threads (size 10)
11 yards peach (or choice of skin color)
60 yard dark Royal Blue (or choice of Mary’s garment color)
45 yards white (or choice of head covering color)
3 yards gold (or choice of halo color)
10 yards golden yellow (or choice of Mary’s garment contrasting color)
1 skein of black embroidery floss (or choice of Mary’s hair and eye color)
Small amount red (or choice of mouth color) Could also use embroidery floss
Small amount of polyester fiberfill.
Tapestry needle
Steel Crochet hook size 7 (1.65mm)
Washable fabric glue.
The crochet stitches include, sc, hdc, dc, tr and sl st. There is also some back and front loop work The pattern includes description of abbreviations and complete instructions with picture tutorials.
