Interpretations Vol. 8 is here! This year brings you the charming 8th collaboration between Joji Locatelli and Veera Välimäki. This collection includes six themes, six words with two designs inspired by each word, showing a personal take on each of these themes.

In 2021 we continued to work together virtually. We found this to be a great opportunity to show you a bit of our home countries. We did the photoshoots separately in our respective major cities: Helsinki and Buenos Aires. Joji’s pictures are taken by Claudia Salazar, Veera’s Jonna Jolkin.

This top is worked from the top down in one piece, with no seams and very little finishing required. I used a textured stitch to highlight the beauty of speckled yarns and to give the finished garment a little more structure. The front and back are adorned with columns of a charming lace pattern. The neckline and armholes are finished with a delicate i-cord.
I named this pattern in honor of my stunning mother, Virginia. She usually knits the sleeves of many of my samples, so maybe a sleeveless vest is not the best design to carry her name. Or maybe it is, because the moment she saw it, she instantly fell in love with it.
I hope you enjoy making this top. It can be worn as a vest over any garment (dresses, button-downs) or it can be worn on its own as a top. Whatever yarn you choose - merino, linen, cotton, silk - it will surely be a garment you’ll go to again and again.
