This scarf is worked on the bias in Tunisian crochet. I wanted to keep the Tunisian crochet stitches simple while exploring some dramatic colour changes. I’ve used two colours in a recycled DK yarn. The scarf starts in the bottom corner and increases until the width is achieved. Once the desired length is achieved, the stitches decrease. I’ve also worked the pattern in two skeins of a beautiful indie yarn from Lottie Knits, Aglow DK, for a slightly shorter scarf. The scarf uses only Tunisian Simple Stitch and Tunisian Reverse Stitch, so blocking is essential to ease the curling, and I’ve given details of how I block at the end of the pattern. Pattern is written in English and uses UK terms.

Trs2tog - insert hook under the next 2 back vertical bars, yo, pull up loop
Yo - yarn over
RS - right side of work

Increase - Insert hook through the horizontal bars sitting before the next st, yo and pull up a loop. Increase made.

Bind off - work a slip stitch row after completing the last Return Pass. Insert hook into next stitch, yo and pull yarn through both loops on hook. Repeat for each stitch until one loop remains. Cut yarn and draw through loop to fasten off.

Virgule Scarf - Pattern Notes
Pattern rows are Forward Pass instructions only. Follow each row with a Return Pass.
Return Pass instructions: Ch1, yo, pull through next 2 loops on hook; repeat from until 1 loop remains on hook.
Colour changes happen at the end of the Forward Pass (left edge of work) - work the Forward Pass as normal, yo with new colour and pull through the first loop on the hook, continue with the Return Pass in the new colour.
If you intend to use a different dk yarn to that specified, weigh your work at Row 26 (or once your desired width has been achieved), so you know how much yarn you need to have available when you start your decreases at the other end of the scarf.
