Viridine
Viridine is a striped semicircular shawl overlaid with a cable motif that radiates from a central flower into a star shape.
This star is made of a series of wedges beginning at the nape of the neck, which gradually widen out worked the body, and then transition into a unique slipped stitch striped lace mesh. The design plays with changing the dominant colour to striking effect.
This design is ideal for 2 solids/semi-solids, a gradient and solid, or a gorgeous pair of dappled gradients, as pictured here.
- Only one colour is worked at a time.
- The pattern is charted only.
- The medium size can be worked up to 202 rows, & the larger to 264 rows. Extra wedges can be added for more width, using a sport or light DK yarn would make the shawl larger again.
The pictured green shawl used 685m in total, 350 of C1 (Pistazie, yellow-green) and 326m of C2 (Skarabaus, the gently variegated blue green) for the smaller size.
The picture with 2 small starts shows Skarabaus paired with Pistazie on the left and Serpentin (yellow) on the right, to show 2 variations of contrast. My project page can be found here - I had lots of fun playing with contrast. :)
