The Vita Bergen socks are a pair of knitted colorwork socks, using a cuff-down construction with a short-row heel in false twisted rib. They are named after a lovely, hilly park on the island of Södermalm, Stockholm.

The socks are beginner friendly if you are new to stranded knitting: no more than 2 colors are worked at the same time, and no color is worked for longer than 5 sts in a row (so there is no need to catch any floats). You can easily substitute e.g. an afterthought-heel for the instructed short-row heel.

Sizes
The socks come in 3 width sizes: XS (64 sts circumference), S (68 sts), M (72 sts). Length is easily adjustable by adding or removing rounds from the chart.

Materials
You will need fingering weight sock yarn in 3 different colors, approx. 80-140 meters (20-30 grams) of each color depending on size and preferred cuff length.

Needles
2.25 mm and 2.5 mm double-pointed needles (or size to obtain gauge), tapestry needle.

Gauge
8-9 sts per 2.5cm/inch in stranded knitting in the round. Example sock is knitted with a gauge of 33 sts per 10cm/4 inches.
