Vittaria
Fall is coming, I’m told. When it gets here we will all want a nice cozy wrap for those cool evening strolls. This design fits the bill. It uses 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn so isn’t too heavy but it’s big enough to generously wrap around almost every body shape to create that nice cozy feeling. The unique conbination of crescent and yoke shaping creates a modified curved crescent that wants to curl and stay put no matter what way it’s wrapped or how breezy the evening.
It begins with a stockinette stitch tab cast on (like garter tab but worked in stockinette stitch instead) and continues with my favorite rolled stockinette edge. Looks like an i-cord but doesnt pucker like an i-cord.
This design is written for 2 colors. for the best results using contrasting yarn so that the main slip stitch pattern pops. This Ribbon Stitch is repeated throughout the shawl separated by simple sequence lace or texture patterns. The design looks more complicated than it actually is. The final border is an i-cord bind off with the final 6 stitches grafted to created a seamless edge. Instructions are included for step by step grafting.
The Original Sample used almost an entire skein of Trillium for the first color and Seafoam for the second color.. These skeins are a
generous 480yd/439 m so if you substitute yarn be sure your skeins contain enough yarn.
