Viva La Vida Scarf
Violinist David Garrett’s cover of Viva La Vida is the kind of song you cannot be sad while listening to. The music video for it is also the most Lisa Frank thing I have ever seen in my life (apart from the backpack I had in kindergarten), and I mean that as a sincere compliment. After listening to it an embarrassing amount of times, I decided I needed to knit a bright, luxurious scarf inspired by it. I like my scarves to be a little challenging, since nothing kills my knitting mojo quite as fast as miles of a boring stitch pattern. As such, the side cables are made up of slipped stitches and crossed on WS rows, while the stitch count for the lace section changes between rows.
It isn’t strictly necessary to listen to Viva La Vida while knitting this, or dance around to it while wearing your finished scarf, but I find it helps.
Finished size after blocking: 8.5in. x 78.5in.
