I have been intrigued by the look of channeled eyelets. This little shawlette is easy to knit and uses just one skein (approx. 430 yards) of sock yarn.

The construction is from the top down, and there are twice as many increases along the outer edges than down the middle, creating a shawl with long wings and shallow drop. The instructions are written as the pattern is so simple a chart would be silly!

Please note that I don’t care if you make and sell this shawl. It doesn’t seem right for me to request “non-commercial” use since you have chosen the yarn for your shawl, and have done all the knitting. Just, please, be sure to give credit to the designer, as it was my idea and the pattern was written out by me. Thank you and ENJOY!

P.S. The name for this shawl came from the main character of Margaret Leroy’s book, “The Soldier’s Wife,” a novel based in the occupied Channel Islands during World War II.
