Vivify
This fun hat was born during the Wool Needles Hands Year of Hats Knit-A-Long for the design you own hat month. After wearing the original and tweaking it a few times, here is the final version of this fun textured hat.
It knits up quick and will look great on anyone!
I used Fiber for the People 2 ply Sock and Fiber for the People Silk Mohair Lace but this hat can be knit with any fingering weight yarn held with a mohair or even some of the suri alpaca lace.
YARN
* Fiber for the People 2ply Sock (80% Merino, 20% Nylon)
Fingering 400 yds/100g,
Carnival Barker – 1 skein
* Fiber for the People Silk Mohair Lace (70% Kid Mohair, 30%
Silk) Lace 459 yds/50g,
Moss or Silver – 1 skein
* OR 200 yds fingering and 200 yds lace mohair or suri alpaca
NEEDLES * US 3 (3.25 mm) circular needles and DPN’s
(or size needed to obtain gauge)
GAUGE * 25 stitches and 35 rows = 4”/10cm texture stitch
SIZE * width at brim: 20”/51 cm | height: 9”/ 23 cm
SKILLS * knitting in the round and with DPN’s, slip stitches
NOTES * Vivify is designed to fit loosely and have a nice
slouch to the back. If that is not your jam, you can go down a needle size for a smaller gauge to give you a tighter fit. To decrease the overall length for a less slouchy look, knit less repeats of the texture rounds.
