Vlek is a pullover constructed of an overall basketweave pattern with splotches of color. This is a fun project where you can design your own “vlekken” (Dutch for splotch, spot, fleck) or use those shown on the pattern. The pattern explains how to approach designing your own.

This pattern is written with more visual instruction than written instruction. It uses charts. There are 11 different charts for body sizes. Please download the Vlek Pullover pattern first, then choose your size. I suggest making it with a positive ease of 8-9.5”/20-25cm.

Sweater body in cm: 95 (103, 112, 120, 128, 136) (144, 150, 158, 167, 176)
Sweater body in ins: 37”(40.5”, 44”, 47”, 50”, 53.5”) (57”, 59”, 62”, 66”, 69”)

There are 4 charts for sleeves.

You will need a total of 5 skeins for Size 1, 6 skeins for Sizes 2-4, 7 skeins for Sizes 5-7, and 8 skeins for Sizes 8-11. One of these skeins is meant for the splotches so it will be a different color. If you want to make just a one-colour basketweave pullover then you will need the full amount in just the one color.
