’Voda’ means ‘water’ in Russian. The pattern is yet another variation of the beloved lily-of-the-valley motif.
The scarf shown in the photo was made using 1 skein (50 g, 440 yds, 402 m) of Knit Picks Shimmer, 2 ply lace yarn, colorway Shallows, on US 2 (2.75 mm) circular needles. For provisional cast on, you will need a crochet hook in the similar to the needles size and circular needles or dpns.
Gauge: approximately 20 sts x 24 rows = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) after blocking.
Finished size after blocking: 56” x 14” (142 cm x 35 cm)
Skill level: This is a beginner to intermediate level project and uses, in addition to the knit (k) and purl (p) stitches, yarnover (yo), 5-stitch cross (k5 tog, yo, k1, yo, k1 in the same st), k3 tog (slip 2 tog, k1, pass slipped stitches over (psso)), left-slanted decrease (slip 1, k1, psso), and right-slanted decrease (k2 tog).
Pattern: Pattern is a multiple of 20 st +1. There is a 5-st garter border on each side, making a total of 71 sts. The odd-numbered rows are knit on the right side, and the even-numbered rows are purled on the wrong side except for the garter edge sts which are knit on both sides. First st of every row is slipped purl-wise.
The scarf is knit as two halves starting with crocheted provisional cast-on in the middle of the scarf, so that the ends of the scarf are symmetrical. The pattern includes a full-width chart for the main pattern and optional lace edge. Written directions are included for the set-up rows and for provisional cast-on.
