These crocheted fingerless gloves are named Voltaic after the voltaic pile because to me, they look like a stack (or, you know, a pile) of wooly disks - just like the voltaic pile is, basically, a stack of metal disks (Yay! Science!)

These gloves are worked first in the round, then flat, than back in the round. You’ll be able to work the thumb tube without having to cut the yarn once if you want - using a fairly simple combination of chains and slip stitches.

The pattern includes written instructions, schematics explaining the construction of the gloves and detailed written descriptions of the techniques and stitches used.
In addition, links to photo and video tutorials for some of these techniques are also included in the pattern.

Gauge: 20 dc per 4”/10cm

Time to complete this project: 4 to 6 hours.
Level: Intermediate.
Sts used: ch, slst, dc, hdc, Bphdc, Fphdc, tr, Bptr, Fptr.
This pattern uses American terminology.

These gloves are available in size 6” / 6,5” / 7” / 7,5” / 8” / 8,5” / 9” / 9,5” / 10” / 10,5”/ 11”/ 11,5” (that’s 15 / 16,5 / 18 / 19 / 20 / 21,5 / 23 / 24 / 25,5 / 27 / 28 / 29 cm)

Material:
- Malabrigo Arroyo (335 yards/100g) or equivalent sport weight yarn:
--- For size 6” to 8,5” = One skein (100g).
--- For size 9” to 10” = 130g
--- For size 10,5” to 11,5” = 150g.
The gloves shown in the pictures were made using Malabrigo Arroyo in the colorway Arco Iris.

• A 3,5 mm (E) crochet hook (or whichever size to match the gauge).
• A removable stitch marker (can be a piece of scrap yarn).
• A darning needle to weave in the ends.
