Vostok 1 cowl is a textured cowl with some knit/purl stitches and openwork lace that is worked on the bias - starting with just a few stitches and ending with a few. No cast on or bind off! The stitches are simple and engaging and the cool construction keeps you interested. It’s a perfect little thing to wear to ward off spring chill!
INSPIRATION
Vostok 1 was the first manned flight to space on April 12, 1961, carrying Yuri Gagarin and thus marking the beginning of a new era of space travel. Gagarin ended up landing just a few miles from my hometown, across the Volga river and 280 km away from the planned landing spot at Baikonur. My hometown is also where Gagarin first learned to fly in the early 50s and he remarked while landing from that fateful first space flight that the area looked very familiar to him.
