About the shape: I like the idea of rectangle scarves, but always find they don’t give enough cover at the neck, so I came up with this shape to solve that - a rectangle scarf with an extra V-shape in the middle.

The other advantage of the shape is that it makes it a bit more interesting to knit.

You get the luxurious feel of a big wrap, but without all the bulk.

It’s also a great way to show off a gorgeous gradient yarn.

The colourwork is all done using slipped stitches (mosaic knitting) so you only have to work with one colour at a time.

I found it to be lovely and relaxing to knit (but you have to like long rows - I personally much prefer to knit a smaller number of long rows than lots of short rows - you don’t have to turn so much and can settle into a nice rhythm so that the whole thing knits up quite quickly).

NOTE: I tested out several different ideas, but the final version in the pattern is the one featured in the main photo.
