Wabush

Wabush is worked top-down and seamlessly. The upper body is formed by a combination of stranded colourwork bands with steeks and sections of short rows worked in the main colour stockinette, then the lower body is continued in the round. The sample colourwork is subtle yet vibrant and reminiscent of iron ore on a deep, moody background, but the strong patterning is suitable for all ranges of contrasting colour combos. Both low and high contrast colour combinations look stunning.

First time steeker? Nervous steeker? This is another great sweater to defeat the trepidation. The sweater is started with a stranded colourwork band, and it is steeked before continuing knitting the remaining sweater.

Needles and Notions

The gauges were achieved with the following needle size. To work the pattern as written, you must swatch and use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Size A: 3mm (US 2.5) circular needles of various lengths for ribbing, and also DPNs for cuffs if preferred.

Size B: 3.5mm (US 4) circular needles of various lengths for stockinette; you will need two 100cm / 40” circular needles
for the wingspan.

Size C: 4mm (US 6) circular needles of various lengths for stranded bands; you will need two 100cm / 40” circular
needles for the wingspan.

You will also need:

spare needles or interchangeable cables for holding sts, 3.5mm (US E-4) crochet hook for surface crochet along top of shoulder/sleeve, a needle that is 2 sizes smaller than your ribbing needle for the Jeny’s Stretch Bind Offs, stitch markers.
