This elegant shawl has an unusual stripe pattern that is made up of short rows. These are normally used to produce organic wave effects, here they stay geometric and just change the width of the stripes. Two cables accentuate the color changes.
This shawl is crocheted entirely in slip stitches. The cables are worked horizontally; a technique that I invented.

The pattern includes written instructions and photo tutorials for

• inverse back loop only slip stitch (iB)
• open horizontal cables

yarn:

• 200 g Holst Supersoft Uld in the main color (MC — 100 g in black and 100 g in slate gray for the tri-color version)
• 100 g Holst Supersoft Uld in contrasting color (CC — plum)

hook: 4 mm (US size G)

also needed: 3 stitch markers (or threads in a constrasting color)
