Waffle Sweater
So comfortable to wear this waffle sweater! A sweatshirt feel but with a sleek and modern look.
This waffle stitch pattern is created with just a simple combination of Knit and Purl stitches.
Top down construction is easy to follow once you start seeing the waffle stitch pattern.
The sleeves are just straight, so no double pointed needles required :) The result is a very comfortable and modern sleeve shape.
I love wearing my own designs, but this one in particular is definitely one of my favorites! Hope you all enjoy it as well.
Please see ‘Gauge’ section’ carefully. The row gauge will vary according to the type of yarn.
YARN
Any DK weight of yarn.
Hedgehog fibers yarn (the golden yellow sample) was a dream to work with. Tightly twisted yarn shows the waffle stitch pattern very nicely.
Yardage - S (M, L, XL) - 1100 (1250, 1400, 1550) yards.
NEEDLES
Main needles - 24”~36” long circular needles and 16” long circular needles.
Smaller needles (one size smaller than Main needles) - 24”~36” long circular needles and 16” long circular needles.
Suggested needle size -Main needles.
Wool - US 5~6
Cotton - US 3~4
GAUGE
22 sts 28 rows After wet-blocking
4” x 4” with main needles in waffle stitch.
It is very important to check the gauge after wet-blocking. The waffle stitch will stretch out a lot lengthwise after wet-blocking.
The row gauge will vary according to the type of yarn. Please have the correct stitch gauge and adjust the length at straight section both body and sleeves if your row gauge is different from the suggested 28 rows.
Machine washable yarn will stretch more.
NON machine washable wool won’t stretch as much.
SIZE
Finished chest circumference.
S (M, L, XL) - 39 (42.5 46, 48 )“
This sweater is designed for relaxed and boxy shape. 3”~5” positive ease is recommended.
