Waffle, the Eskie
Many of my friends have requested a knit replication of their cherished pet. I’ve decided to share some of the designs with the knitting community!
This is Waffle, an American Spitz dog (or Eskie, as it is lovingly called). It is a very comely, clever and congenial canine. It is extremely eager to please and willing to wow! This dapper dog is one of the most brainy breeds and you can teach it to do tons of stuff! So get your woof on, knit this pawsome pal and maybe teach it a trick or two!
20 cm Waffle has a 10 cm tail and was knitted on 4 mm double pointed needles (UK 8, US 6). Working with these thin needles and a heavy yarn is a bit of a chore but it creates a dense fabric the stuffing won’t come peeping through. The yarn can be knitted on thicker needles and the dog will turn out a little larger.
Variation in the textures of your chosen yarns can add to the life-likeness of your knitted animal. Waffle was made with Durable furry (326) ivory, a few strands of Drops Karisma (19) white and Drops Alpaca Bouclé (100) nature and stuffed with soft toy filling.
It is a medium project that asks for knitting flat and in the round, minor intarsia work, loop stitches (described in the text) and embroidering of the face.
Have a fur-bulous knit!
