Waffles are fingerless mittens consisting of a textured pattern using only knit and purl stitches. The pattern is a simple 4 row repeat which creates a waffle effect starting at the wrist and continuing for the length of the mittens. They include a thumb gusset which continues with the same waffle stitch detail. The pattern includes 3 sizing options for women’s hand sizes. Knitted using DK weight yarn the pattern could also be resized by using a different yarn and/or needle size. The mittens are knitted on circular needles using the magic loop method or dpn’s if that is your preference.

Gauge
Waffle stitch swatch 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm) 28 sts x 42 rows – 3mm (US 2.5) needles

Sizes
Women’s hand sizes; small 6.5-7” (16.5cm-18cm), medium 7-7.5”, (18cm-19cm), large 7.5-8” (19cm-20cm)
Finished mitten length; 7” (18 cm)

Materials
60-85g DK weight yarn
3mm needles (circular needles or dpn’s)
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
