Waffles for Brunch
About this design
There is something incredibly comforting about a lazy winter Sunday morning—A slow start lying in bed with a good book and a cup of tea, a warm shower and some even warmer clothes, and then wandering down to your local café for a brunch of coffee, waffles and maple syrup. And of course, if the sun is shining, sitting at an outside table with your head feeling toasty warm in the Waffles for Brunch beanie.
The simple slipstitch pattern of this beanie gives layers and depth to the design, as well as providing lots of micro spaces to trap warm air and keep you cosy and comfortable. The use of two colours helps to showcase the smooth vertical lines of slipstitches and the journey that they make to form a balanced and symmetrical crown.

Tension
21 stitches x 40 rows in the Waffle Stitch pattern knitted in the round on 4.5 mm (US size 7, UK size 7) needles on a 10 cm (4 in) blocked swatch. A reasonable match for tension is important for this pattern to ensure a good fit. If your gauge is significantly different, move up or down a needle size and swatch one more time. Also, you may find that you use more or less yarn if your gauge is significantly different.
Yarn
Any double knit/8 ply yarn that knits to the tension gauge. Two contrasting colours are required.
All sizes:
Colour A approx. 94 m/103 yds (approx 50g ball of yarn)

The main sample beanie illustrated in this pattern was knitted with Cleckheaton Perfect Day 8 ply wool/alpaca blend (70% merino wool and 30% alpaca) in shades 1103 (Charcoal) and 1001 (Fawn).
