This pattern from the 1920s ‘won first prize in a recent competition’.

It consists of two striped waistcoat fronts sewn into an open cardigan style garment with a collar and long sleeves. There is a double belt of plaited lengths of chain with tasselled ends, caught at the side seams so it covers the back only. The garment is made in three colours, and buttons down the front.

Originally a transfer was used for the embroidery design.
The waistcoat edgings are in garter stitch; the remainder of the garment is edged in crochet using the contrast colours.

It would fit up to a 36 inch bust.

It requires 14 oz of grey, and 2 oz each of black and orange.

Cock o’ th’ North knitting wools were made by Carter and Parker of Baildon Mills, near Shipley in Yorkshire.
