Waiting For Santa
I am an avid sock knitter, so when presented with some gorgeous super bulky yarn, I immediately cast on for a holiday stocking. This giant sock has glorious garter ridges, a tiny bit of colorwork, a cut in heel, a picot edge, and to really top it off…a giant tassel! Can you tell I had a bit of fun here? If any of these techniques are new to you, using super bulky yarn will make them a breeze. I hope this project brings a smile to your face, and some holiday cheer to your home. ☆
This SUPER SPEEDY, SUPER BULKY stocking is intended as a stylish and quick gift or decoration for your home for the holidays.
Sample used:
colour A: Pagoda (I skein) 143 g used
colour B: Pearl Ten (1skein) 90 g used
I used beautiful super bulky hand dyed yarn, but feel free to substitute any other yarn of similar gauge.
The needle is used is a 12.0 mm
Techniques used:
- cuff down sock construction
- cut in heel
- picot bind off
- knitting on the WS to create the cuff
- incorporating tassels or pom pom as an add on
- garter stitch in the round
- two rows of colorwork
- attempting any of these techniques for the first time is a snap using giant bulky yarn!
- gauge is not critical for this pattern, although a different gauge will result in different yarn requirements
I hope this stocking makes you smile and brings holiday cheer to anyone that knits or receives one as a gift!
