Waiting for Slack Tide
It is a windy day at Tyee Spit as tugs wait for slack tide at Seymour Narrows. A frenzy of churning whirlpools spills out into Menzies Bay. You can actually see “layers” of water levels as the currents rip through this infamous location. Ripple Rock , a dangerous underwater mountain was blown up on April 5, 1958 to ensure safe passage from Discovery Passage to Johnstone Strait. There are a number of really incredible rapids and narrows in the area; Dent Rapids, Surge Narrows, Skookumchuck to name a few and all must be navigated during slack tide only.
This pattern is written only, no charts.
Waiting for Slack Tide is a rectangular shawl knit on the bias with cabled borders.
