’Waiting for the Sun’ was created during a seemingly endless string of dark, gray winter days. It is a semi-circular shawl that starts at the top but changes directions a few times during the knitting process. For the most part, it’s just garter stitches and slipped stitches, but I won’t recommend the pattern for beginners. On the other hand, if you are not afraid to change directions, you don’t need that much knitting experience.

For the best optical effect, you should combine a solid color and a self-striping yarn with (relatively short) gradients. Yarn weight should be fingering or sport, although the pattern can be done with bigger yarn.
Using fingering yarn, you’ll need about 120-150 g per color.

Während einer Reihe nicht enden wollender grauer Wintertage entstand ‘Waiting for the Sun’, ein halbrundes Tuch, das – in wechselnden Strickrichtungen – von oben nach unten gestrickt wird. Es besteht überwiegend aus kraus rechts gestrickten Reihen und Hebemaschen, ist aber aufgrund der Konstruktion nicht für Strickanfänger geeignet.

Die optimale Wirkung entfaltet das Tuch wenn man ein unifarbenes Garn und eines mit (relativ kurzem) Farbverlauf kombiniert. Das Garn sollte mindestens Sockengarnstärke haben (Lauflänge 400 m / 100 g), kann jedoch auch mit einer entsprechend größeren Menge an dickerem Garn gestrickt werden.
Mit Sockengarnstärke braucht man pro Farbe etwa 120-150 g.
