Walk of Sorrow Socks
I was inspired by Patricia Ballantyne to design and knit these socks for her.
She began a 79-day journey, which she called the “Walk of Sorrow,” after learning of the discovery of around 200 unmarked graves at the site of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C. She departed on June 5 from the Prince Albert Indian Residential School, where she was forced to attend from 1978 to 1987.
Walk of Sorrow socks are worked toe-up using Judy’s Magic Cast-on, DPNs and have a German Short Row heel (Instructions included).
Practiced knitters can adapt the pattern to two circulars or a circular needle
The pattern is in 3 sizes and will fit
Finished Foot Circumference
20.5, 23, 25.5 cm, (8, 9, 10”)
