“Walz in the Park” is a pattern that makes a scarf or a shawl. I recommend sock or fingering weight yarn for the scarf, and worsted weight yarn for the shawl. The stitch pattern is done consistently throughout the work, and it creates a really interesting pattern to the point that it almost doesn’t look like crochet. The fabric produced is light, open and stretchy, and the row ends make pretty edges so that no extra border edging is necessary.
For the scarf, you’ll need approximately 430-450 yards of sock or fingering weight yarn. For a shawl, you’ll need approximately 740 yards of sock weight yarn, or approximately 600 yards of DK or worsted weight yarn. A specific gauge is not necessary for this pattern, but I recommend medium tension.
Started at the bottom point, the scarf or shawl expands outward and as you crochet you will fall in to the rhythm of the stitches like you are walzing. This pattern is easy, and you don’t need to count rows or stitches so you can relax and work on this project while watching a good movie, or traveling, or anywhere. So, get ready, find your perfect yarn, and enjoy the relaxing 1-2-3 of this project.
