Inspired by the first ever Nerd Girl Yarns retreat and the special colorway dyed for the event, My Internet Friends are Real!, this shawl features random spiral cables and an applied edging to represent the great distances so many traveled to come together in person for the first time after nearly a decade of cultivating an incredibly close online community.

Written for a single skein of sock yarn, this pattern is exclusively charted. You can start the applied edging at any point, when you have the requisite amount of yarn left over, so there is a level of leeway in the sizing of the shawl.

Errata (v.1.1)
I apologize for the lengthy errata for Chart 4. I am working the chart in its entirety and editing it line by line as I go. I will release v1.2 when it’s ready.

• Chart 4, Right side, Row 142: Stitch 16 is a blank box (i.e. purl on wrong side) should be a dot (i.e. knit on wrong side)* Chart 4, Left side, Row 155: Cable starting at 2nd stitch should be C3pB instead of C3Bp
• Chart 4, Left side, Row 155: Cable starting at 13th stitch should be C3pF instead of Cp3F

• Chart 4, Center chart, Row 169: Cable starting with stitch 29 should be Cp4Fp instead of Cp4Bp
• Chart 4, Center chart, Row 170: Stitches 29 & 30 should be a cable - Cp2Fp
