Wanderlight
I have always been a fan of short sleeve sweaters and wanted to create a pattern that I would turn to over and over. Wanderlight is a versatile wardrobe staple - paired with jeans or layered over a tunic, the comfortable relaxed fit of Wanderlight makes this tee easy to wear.
Construction
Wanderlight is a DK weight tee (sample shown is knit using fingering weight yarn - Julie Asselin: Nomade - held double)
Worked from the bottom up as one piece with no side seaming, the front and back are then split at the armholes and worked flat. German short rows are used to shape the shoulders which are then seamed using a three needle bind off. To complete the sweater, the sleeves and neck collar stitches are picked up along the sleeve and neck edges and herringbone is worked in the round for the final detailing.
Sizing 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9)
Recommended positive ease: 6 – 10” / 15 - 25 cm
To select a size: measure full bust, then add amount of desired ease to that measurement and select the finished bust circumference closest to that number.
Finished Bust Circumference
36 (39, 44.5, 49, 52.5) (57, 61, 64.5, 69.5)” / 91
(99, 113, 124, 133) (145, 155, 164, 177) cm
#sizeinclusive
Sample shown in size 3 with 9”/ 23 cm positive ease.
Suggested Needles
Size “A” US 11 / 8 mm needle, 24” & 30” or
longer circular for body + preference for small
circumference knitting with magic loop method
or using DPNs
Size “B” US 9 / 5.5 mm needle, 30” or
longer circular for body + preference for small
circumference knitting with magic loop method
or using DPNs
Note: When knitting herringbone, it is
recommended to use a needle size larger than
might be typical for a particular yarn weight. I do
not recommend going down a needle size. Using a
set of interchangeable needles for herringbone
stitch is also helpful.
