Wanna Build a Snowman Hat and Mittens
This beautiful, warm knit is perfect for a winter day outside, maybe building a snowman! There is an option to have the shovel facing down or up beside the snowman. It is a fun knit, that doesn’t take too long to work up.
The pattern is written as one size, adult medium, approx. 21 inch circumference for the hat and 9” long with the brim folded up for extra warmth. The mittens are 10 inches long, 8 inches circumference but the pattern can be adjusted.
I used Aran weight yarn (8 wpi). If you use another weight of yarn (eg. worsted) or knit tightly when doing stranded knitting, make sure to adjust either number of stitches or needle size to get the correct fit.
You can easily make the project using one skein of yarn for the main colour. You will need to be familiar with stranded knitting and carrying floats behind your work. It uses mostly two colours at a time, but there is a section (the snowman) when you will need to carrying three colours at once.
This hat and mitten set has not been test knit. Send any suggestions or questions to carolasheartstrings@gmail.com or to my Ravelry username: Cbaker259.
