Wannabe Vintage Mitts
Very feminine - yet not too girlish - light mitts to be worn in spring or autumn to provide some extra warmth and comfy. The twisted stitches for the small cables are key.
Yarn:
For this pattern I‘d recommend a not-too-dark solid-coloured yarn with a crisp, plied structure. Highly variegated or „fuzzy“ yarns won‘t show off the pattern and cables very well.
Trivia:
At the time of knitting these, I was just studying old Styrian cable patterns I found at an Austrian museum which inspired me to make these mitts. The pattern itself however reminds me of these old vintage ceramic tiles that have this typical 70s flowery motif on it. That’s how they actually got their name though…
Errata:
There is an error in the orange box on the bottom of page 2, right after the setup of the thumb gusset:
You should have 58 sts on your needles here, not 50 sts.
