This time of year and especially after the monumental stress of the last months, we can use a comforting, keep you toasty pattern. I chose the name “Warm Cider” to echo the yummy steamy warmth of hot cider on a cold day. I chose a color to resemble the cider, but this hat would look good in practically any solid color. Also available is my “Warm Cider Fingerless Mitts” pattern!

The yarn is a budget friendly 100% wool from our friends at Berroco. It’s easy to find and is not expensive. At 200 yds per skein, you will use one skein for the hat. I also used a faux fur 4” pompom with an elastic loop, so it’s removable for washing.

This hat will fit well, keeping you warm the whole time! The lace is not particularly feminine, so the hat could be used for a male.

The lace is easy, you will need to know or learn to knit, purl, k2tog, ssk, s2kpo, and yo. The lace is charted on big, easy-to-read charts, and also for those not liking charts, it’s written out. I used a size US 5/3.75mm circular and double pointed needles to make it a little denser than the usual size US 7/4.5mm - 8/5mm that might be used; so the hat will keep you a bit more snuggly than with the larger needles.

Hang in there, fellow knitters, there is a light at the end of our long tunnel. Wishing you all good health.
