I use 2 strands of cotton yarn for this pattern.

I use a button, but it is optional. It can be made without the button loop.

Kindle uses 1 normal size skein of yarn
Paperback book covers use 1 Super Size skein of yarn

I usually use 2 skeins of 1 color when I make them, but you could use a yarn winder and divide 1 skein of yarn for your project. If you use 2 skeins, you can make at least 2 items.
