This is the pattern for the Warm Up Hand Warmers, a pair of super cozy and fun crochet hand warmers/fingerless gloves! When purchasing this pattern you will also get access to the pattern for the Warm Up Leg Warmers, a pair of equally cozy crochet leg warmers so that you can make your own Warm Up Set! These are both quick and relatively easy projects that are the perfect gifts for your friends and loved ones :)

You’ll get access to three pdfs after purchase, including the written patterns as well as a lookbook for the hand warmers where you’ll find info and pictures of the hand warmers made by the lovely group of people that tested the pattern!

Below you’ll find some technical information about the pattern for the Hand Warmers!

SIZING

  • There are 5 sizes available that are based on the width of your palm. The circumference of the palm of the hand warmer for the sizes (XS,S,M,L,XL) are: (17,19,21,23,25) cm or 6.6,7.6,8.1,9.2,9.7 inches.
  • The hand warmers are meant to have around 0-2 cm 0-0.8 in of positive ease compared to your hand.
  • The length of the wrist as well as the length from the “crook” of your thumb and up, can both easily be adjusted to your liking.

MATERIALS USED

  • Crochet hook 4.0 mm (or hook needed to obtain gauge)
  • Lace weight wool yarn held together with lace weight mohair/silk mohair/alpaca yarn
    • I used Saga by Filcolana held together with Soft Silk Mohair by Knitting for Olive
    • For sizes (XS,S,M,L,XL) you’ll need approximately (110,150,175,225,265)m of each yarn for both hand warmers.
  • Blocking mat/towel + pins
  • Yarn needle/Darning needle
  • Measuring tape
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors

TECHNIQUES USED (US TERMS)

  • Chain(s) – ch(s)
  • Slip stitch(es) – slst(s)
  • Yarn over slip stitch(es) – yoslst(s)
  • Half double crochet(s) – hdc(s)
  • Foundation half double crochets – fhdc(s)
  • End of row – eor
  • Back loop only – blo
  • Front loop only – flo

GAUGE

  • 10x10 cm (4x4 inches) = 19 stitches x 15 rows
  • The gauge swatch is made using alternating rows of hdc in blo and yoslsts in flo.

DIFFICULTY

  • 2.5/5
  • There are some tricky parts to this pattern, like the foundation half double crochets, but there is also a full video tutorial included to help you along and hopefully make those parts a little easier.
  • The hand warmers are crocheted flat in one piece and then the first and last row are joined together to shape it into a hand warmer!

Below you’ll find some technical information about the pattern for the Leg Warmers! Since they use the same stitches, techniques, yarns, hook and gauge as the hand warmers, a lot of the information above can be applied!

SIZING

  • There are 3 sizes available that are based on the width of your calf. The circumference of the upper part of the leg warmer for the sizes (S,M,L) are: (27,32,37) cm or 10.5,12.6,14.7 inches.
  • The leg warmers are meant to have between 2 cm 0.8 in of positive ease and 2 cm of negative ease compared to your calf, depending on how high you want them to sit.
  • The length of the leg warmer is very easily adjusted to your liking.

VERSIONS

  • There are 3 different versions of each size depending on the amount of flare you want at the bottom; A: no flare, B: slight flare and C: flare!
  • The flared effect is created by doing a number of short rows that don’t go all the way up, making the bottom wider than the top.
  • In the pictures you can see version B (slight flare) which are the pink/yellow leg warmers and then version C (flare) which are the brown leg warmers. The yellow/pink are the standard length while the brown are shortened.

MATERIALS USED

  • The only thing different here from the hand warmers is the amount of yarn needed, while all other materials are the same.
  • For both leg warmers for sizes (S,M,L) you’ll need approximately: Version A: (140,170,195)m of each yarn Version B: (175,210,245)m of each yarn Version C: (220,265,305)m of each yarn

All other technicalities are the same for both patterns!
