Warmer Republic
We’ve all done it. We see an exorbitantly priced knitted item in a store and say ‘I could make that for less!’ Well, I did it. The pattern is loosely based on a cashmere neck-warmer in Banana Republic that I saw on their website. Now all the knitters can enjoy their own. Make one for yourself and one for a gift - they knit up quickly!
Yarn substitutions: This is a great pattern to indulge in some luxury yarn but you could easily substitute another aran/worsted yarn but I would choose something with only a little drape unless you want a slouchier neck-warmer. The Debbie Bliss yarn is 50 yds/45m so you’d need around 150yds/135m of your chosen yarn.
Modifications: If you want a smaller warmer using less yarn, 2 skeins of the Pure Cashmere knitted up to slightly over 6in instead of the finished size of 10in.
Edited pattern on 8/29/08 regarding buttonhole row. This is not repeated, just the ribbing pattern. The blog post has been edited with the correction.
