THE WEE DUCHESS presents to you a pattern for lovely warm socks in a dk yarn with a cleverly designed, easy and quick to do, ‘twist’ pattern, which twists around the leg in a gentle spiral. Once you’ve mastered it, the rhythm of knitting will have your socks made in no time. The warmth and durability comes from using dk yarn with a pattern and needle size that results in a denser fabric than usual. The heels, soles and toes are worked in a reinforcing slip ‘rib’ stitch throughout, which has a tension very close to the twist stitch on the instep so that there is no need to compensate for the different tensions. These socks are knitted with the traditional construction of cuff down with heel flap; but the Wee Duchess will give you several new ideas, tips and tricks as you work to ensure a beautiful pair of warm socks. She also includes many photographs to illustrate some techniques that may be new to you. 3 sizes are given, teenage/slim woman; average woman/slim man and average man/woman with wider foot. It should be easy to adapt to other sizes, simply add or subtract in multiples of 8. 1 ball of this yarn will easily be enough even for the large size.
