It may be March, but it seems as though the cold weather just won’t go away! Why not whip up a quick warm sweater to see your little love through these last wintry days? Whether they’re wishing for more snow, or for brighter days, Warmest Wishes will keep your kids cosy until Spring.

Warmest Wishes is a unisex baby/child pullover with contrast rib detail. A cosy shawl collar, comfy v-neck and full length sleeves all add up to the perfect cool-weather sweater. Knit in bulky weight yarn from the top down, Warmest Wishes is completely seamless for super quick results.

Instructions are given for extending the sleeves to cover the hands. Your kids will find these mitts perfect for all their ninja training needs. And lost gloves are no longer a worry! The integrated mitts have a ribbed palm for a stretchy fit. They can be slipped off the hand and rolled back onto the sleeve cuff when not in use.

Warmest Wishes is the more straightforward cousin of my Ninja Cables design. Warmest Wishes is easier and quicker because it’s bulky weight and doesn’t have any cables or short rows. It really will fly off your needles!

Sizing
To fit: 3m (6m, 12m, 18m, 2y // 4y, 6y, 8y, 10y)
To fit chest size: 16” (17”, 18”, 19”, 21” // 23”, 25”, 26.5”, 28”) with 2.5-3.5” ease at chest
To ensure an accurate fit, measure the child and choose a size that matches their chest rather than their age. Adjust length of body as needed, using the schematic.

Please note that this pattern is written with a smaller amount of positive ease than you may have seen in other kid sweater patterns. I think with the bulky yarn this works better - a warm jumper with a snug fit, which allows for plenty of movement. For a more relaxed fit, knit a larger size.

Yarn
Sublime Yarns Willow: 2 (3, 3, 3, 3 // 3, 4, 4, 4) balls MC and 1 ball CC
OR bulky weight yarn in the following quantities:
MC: 280 (300, 325, 340, 370 // 400, 440, 455, 480) yards
CC: 40 (40, 45, 45, 50 // 55, 60, 60, 65) yards
These are quantities required to knit the sweater with integrated mitts.

Notions
US 10/6mm 16” circular needle (or 24” for sizes 2y+)
US 10/6mm dpns to work sleeves
5 stitch markers
Tapestry needle
Some knitters find that their gauge tightens when knitting in the round over small circumferences. You may wish to switch to a larger needle size for sleeves.
