Warms the Heart Shawl
This winter has been unusually cold for many of us. I wanted a shawl for Valentines Day that featured some beautiful heart patterns, but would still be nice and warm. I chose three heart designs that are somewhat solid and still show a variety of techniques to make the heart shape in crochet.
This shawl is worked from the bottom up. Each row expands outward as the patterns work across the width. I chose a beginning and ending stitch combination that would easily allow a border to be added and would also look nice by itself. I also chose a solid color to show the details of the hearts, but a slow color changing yarn might look very nice as well.
My finished shawl is 60” wide across the top and 28” tall from the neck to the bottom point. If you are a tight crocheter, you may need to go up a hook size to achieve the same results as mine.
