Wasp Nest Decoy
Wasps are territorial, so if they think there’s already a nest in the area, they are more likely to find another place to nest. They are also predatory to bees, so a decoy will keep destructive carpenter bees and other nuisance bees away from any outdoor area where you place your decoy.
This pattern is worked in one continuous round with no joining or sewing required. It’s stuffed with recycled plastic bags to reduce and slow mildew growth, which will happen with any item that is exposed to outdoor elements for a long period of time. This pattern should work up quickly, only taking a couple hours, start to finish.
Decoys are not always 100% effective and will not work on all species of bee, wasp, or hornet. These are likely to reduce the presence of many stinging insects, but as with any pest control, there’s no guarantee that it will work 100% of the time. Anecdotal evidence from my personal use shows that these decoys will work most of the time.
