A friend of mine once bought a dog-eared poster at a sidewalk sale. It was an art print that only needed framing to legitimize it. I had never heard of the artist, but I was drawn to the picture’s kinetic energy and stunning colors. To me, it was modern in every way. Little did I know then that it had been painted some eighty years before. There is nothing new under the sun; all music is made from the same few notes. The great artists seem always to be asking themselves. What will I make today that has never been seen before?
