Inspired by the tiny cogs used in watches, a slipped stitch pattern makes a simple striped sock a little more interesting. Worked from the toe up or top down (choose your preferred method) with a German short row heel, this pattern is perfect for using up leftovers.
Needles:
2.5 mm, US size 1 ½ either double pointed needles or circular(s).
2.0 mm, US size 0 either double pointed needles or circular(s).
Yarn: 70 (80, 90, 100, 110) g total 4 ply / sock / fingering weight yarn, 420 m per 100 g in two (or more) colours, you will use slightly more of the MC as it is used for toes, heel and cuff as well as stripes. You can change stripe colours as often as you like as you work through the sock, or work heel, toes and cuffs in a third colour.

Notions: Tapestry needle, 2 stitch markers.
Skills: Judy’s magic cast on (toe up), longtail cast on (top down), working in the round, knit, purl, slipped stitches, working flat, short rows, decreasing stitches, Kitchener stitch (top down), weaving in ends.
Gauge: 30 stitches and 44 rows over 10 cm / 4” in slipped stitch stripe pattern using larger needles, measured after blocking.
Sizing: Pattern gives stitch counts for extra small (small, medium, large, extra large); approximately equivalent to a finished measurement of 16 (18.5, 21, 24, 26.5) cm / 6 ¼ (7 ¼, 8 ½, 9 ½, 10 ½)” circumference at ball of foot. Leg and foot lengths can be altered to suit.
