Watchword is a wild tessellated pattern, a technical and interesting piece of work. It combines two colorwork techniques, stranded and mosaic knitting, to create a two-motif piece knit in three colors. Pick two colors for an ombre fade in the background, and a third for a foreground box-work pattern that overlies the ombre like iron scrollwork, or an open bridge over running water.

This pattern is a good next step for the knitter who is comfortable with both stranded knitting and mosaic knitting - we don’t recommend that this be your first colorwork project!
