Water Bottle Sling Carrier
Thank you for your interest in my Water Bottle Sling Carrier concept. This was an item I created for my 79-year-old Dad for Father’s Day to take with him on his walks. I will say upfront that I am a VERY novice knitter, and there are certainly better and likely easier ways to create this project, but this is what I knew how to do at the time. I will likely revise the pattern as my skills improve and hope it might stimulate some of your own ideas!
The only thing I struggled with from a knitting perspective was the base. I wanted a circular piece to support the bottom. While I have found patterns since that would likely work for this purpose, this concept used a simple crocheted circle instead. I have since found some knitting patterns that would work as well. I am also certain that I could have completed the body using double-point needles, or on round needles, but I did not have a set of round needles small enough, nor have I mastered using double-point needles.
For the sample shown, I used Bernat Maker Outdoor yarn in Beach Red. It’s a chunky, Acrylic and Nylon blend that is touted to be machine washable and fade resistant. I also used US 7 (4.5mm) needles instead of the recommended US 11 needles which helped provide the strength and density I was looking for and created the pronounced pattern.
