A non-lace version of the classic Feather and Fan stitch pattern makes for a pretty scalloped edge, crashing and waving like the base of a waterfall. These were designed to use a gradient, but would look equally good in a solid or otherwise variegated yarn. A quick gift, or a nice way to welcome those early-spring days, when there’s still a chill in the air but you’re tired of winter gear. Suitable for knitters who are comfortable working in the round, they only require the core skills of increasing and decreasing.
There’s an interesting detail to the way they’re constructed, to suit the use of a gradient: the thumb is worked before the upper hand.
