Waterkant
15% off until Sunday June 14th with coupon code “Schafskaelte” (the German word for sheep’s chill, the cold weater we are usually having here around mid June). Applies to all my other designs, too!
“Waterkant” is a typical word from my origin Northern Germany. It means not only waterfront, but also, in a broader sense, the whole coastal region of the North – a perfect name when using a yarn called North Coast Tweed. (And, even better, this word with its parts in 2 languages kind of underlines the British/ German cooperation on this piece)
A huge “thank you” goes to Scotland to The Border Mill!
Yarn & gauge:
Approx. 1200/ 1300/ 1400/ 1500/ 1600 m of a Worsted or Aran weight yarn needed which knits up to 19 sts x 28 rows in Stockinette, including 130-170 m contrast color CC1 and 60-80 m CC2 (the rest is of main color MC).
Main needle is 4,5mm; 3,75mm needle needed for Garter edges (gauge in Garter: 19 sts x 41 rows).
The sample was worked in The Border Mill North Coast Tweed, 200m/ 100g, “a pure Shetland Worsted (Light Aran) weight yarn inspired by a trip around Scotland’s far North coast”, in MC “Scrabster“ and CCs ”Sutherland Skies” and “Balkaneil”.
2-colored bands on sleeves, waist and button band are waves and fish motivs.
No Fair Isle/ Stranded Knitting skills required – the small bands could be worked with slip stitches.
